Changes to the Unemployment Process

The Union Hall will be open for unemployment assistance during the following times:

•Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
•Tuesday and Thursday: 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM

❗️Note the difference between filing a voucher and filing a claim.❗️

• A voucher is filed weekly after the week you were unemployed no earlier than Sunday. 

• A claim is filed on an annual basis and is filed immediately after you become unemployed but no later than Saturday before 8:59 PM.

For those without an open claim, the DWD Unemployment Insurance Claimant Handbook states:

"You cannot go back and file for weeks before your initial claim filing. The date you filed cannot be “backdated” for weeks that you may have missed. YOUR CLAIM FOR BENEFITS MUST BE COMPLETED BY 8:59 PM Eastern Time (ET) ON SATURDAY OF THE WEEK YOU BECOME UNEMPLOYED to receive a voucher to file for benefits for the following week. Late claims will not be accepted and if you fail to file your claim by 8:59 p.m. ET on Saturday.”
